Dr. Peterson has dedicated his career to helping people find the confidence that exists in everyone. He sees patients from all areas of Northeast Kansas, including Topeka, Junction City, Emporia, Manhattan, Lawrence and Kansas City.
Education and Experience
A Kansas native, Dr. Peterson is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science. He attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his prerequisite training in general surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and completed a residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. After several years of private practice in Otolaryngology, Dr. Peterson completed a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. Subsequently, he culminated his Plastic Surgery training with a fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
Dr. Peterson holds a license to practice medicine in Kansas, Wisconsin and Missouri. He is a board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (since 1997) and American Board of Otolaryngology (since 1988). He is a member of the Kansas City Plastic Surgery Society, Kansas Medical Society and Shawnee County Medical Society. He serves as Director of the Topeka Cleft Lip and Palate Team and is a member of the American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association.
Beyond the Doctor
In his free time, away from the office and operating room, you will find Dr. Peterson outdoors on both land and sea. He is scuba certified as a master scuba diver and has over 500 logged dives. He enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and loves the rides in his native flint hills of Kansas as well as Missouri and Colorado’s continental divide. He is also a certified captain for catamaran sailing so you can often catch him on the water as “Captain Jack”. In the colder winter months, Dr. Peterson spends time making his own IPA beer.
