  • Botox is the most popular cosmetic injectable in the United States and around the world. It’s true! According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, millions of Botox injections are performed each year — and for good reason. This potent injectable can help reduce signs of aging such as wrinkles, facial lines and creases, and stop the signs of aging from developing in the future, without the need for plastic and reconstructive surgical treatments.

Botox is also safe, minimally invasive, works quickly, lasts awhile (but isn’t permanent like other cosmetic treatments), is an outpatient procedure and improves facial appearance. So, can you see why it’s in high demand? Read on to find out more about Botox and why it is right for you.

  • Dysport®, the newer, better Botox®

Laughing, smiling, frowning and squinting are things you do every single day. These actions are natural facial expressions that represent your moods and feelings and seem harmless enough – until they contribute to the formation of lines and wrinkles on your face.

To resolve this situation, minimally invasive injectable solutions can work as muscle relaxants and prevent the muscles of the face that allow you to make facial expressions from contracting, leaving the skin wrinkle-free and you with a more youthful appearance.

We offer patients an array of minimally invasive treatment options to help reduce and/or prevent the appearance of things such as wrinkles, fine lines and creases.

One of these treatments is Dysport, an FDA-approved form of the neurotoxin Botulinum toxin type A (think Botox) injected into the face to temporarily reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles.

    What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers, sometimes called injectable implants, soft tissue fillers or wrinkle fillers, are designed to create a smoother and/or fuller appearance in the face. Dermal fillers are used to treat midface contour deficiencies and target the area known as the nasolabial folds near your nose and mouth, as well as the cheeks, chin, lips and back of the hands to restore volume loss. Volume loss occurs as a result of aging.

Dermal fillers can contain a variety of substances, including naturally occurring and synthetic compounds. One of the most common ingredients used in dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA). This naturally occurring substance is found in the skin and plays a critical role in keeping your skin hydrated and plump.

Over time, the body absorbs many dermal fillers, so individuals choosing injectables will need maintenance visits to maintain results. Dermal fillers can last six months to a year or more, depending on what type of filler you choose.

  • Sculptra Aesthetic gradually replaces lost collagen
Collagen is a key structural component that keeps skin youthful looking and smooth. As you age, your body’s collagen production decreases, and you may begin to see wrinkles. Sculptra® Aesthetic (injectable poly-L-lactic acid) works to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds, as it replaces lost collagen, which can help provide a refined, more youthful looking appearance.

Sculptra Aesthetic works to replace lost collagen in a series of treatments administered by a Sculptra trained physician. On average, 2-3 injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months. The number of injection sessions and the number of injections per session vary from person to person.

Sculptra Aesthetic works within the deep dermis
Within the deep dermis, your skin’s structure is reinforced as Sculptra Aesthetic helps to replace lost collagen. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness of your shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds that has been depleted over time. The result? Sculptra Aesthetic is different because it gradually and subtly corrects these facial wrinkles. This can provide a refined, more youthful looking appearance that can last up to 2 years.

Sculptra Aesthetic is supported with a patient rewards program: Aspire Rewards.

If you would like to learn more about Sculptra® Aesthetic, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Peterson today.
