Plan Now, Enjoy Later

If you’re going to take the time and spend the money to improve your appearance with a plastic surgery procedure such as liposuction, you’re probably going to want the best results, right? But how can you help ensure that you see significant results after your procedure? You can start to prepare yourself now, even before your surgery! We’ve compiled a few tips that can help contribute to you reaching your goals with your procedure.

First Thing’s First

We recommend selecting a board-certified, knowledgeable and experienced plastic surgeon. We also recommend that you have realistic expectations about your procedure and that you’re in good health.

Get to Your Goal Weight

Liposuction is for body contouring to address pockets of fat that have not responded to diet and exercise. Goal weight varies for everyone, so while there’s no universal magic number, you should attain a weight that is healthy for you. We recommend that you reach your goal or close to it within three to six months before your surgery.

Start Building Muscle

Liposuction helps to remove stubborn, unwanted fat, but attaining lean muscle will help give you the curves and contours you desire. Liposuction won’t give you a six-pack, but it can help to reveal one! We recommend starting to build muscles several months before your liposuction procedure. Bonus: Leaner muscles can help improve your recovery time.

Improve How You Eat

Eating a healthy diet is always a good idea, but even more so when you’re getting ready for liposuction. We recommend eating foods high in antioxidants and drinking a lot of water. These things will help your recovery and improve your skin elasticity. Foods that are high in antioxidants include berries, celery, cucumber, nuts, squash, zucchini and pumpkin.

Stop Smoking

You’re going to have to stop smoking before your liposuction procedure, anyway, because of the risks of complications during and after your surgery. So why not quit now?

Not only is it bad for your health, but using tobacco and products with nicotine can also negatively affect your plastic surgery results because it restricts blood vessels and decreases blood flow. Reduced blood flow can severely impact healing.
