Top procedures at Dr. Peterson’s office include breast augmentations, tummy tucks, dermal fillers, and even male breast reduction surgeries, just name just a few. This leaves us wondering if these procedures be as popular next year? Read on to find out the top five plastic plastic surgery predictions for 2017.
Breast Augmentation The American Society of Plastic Surgeon has said that once again, the number one plastic surgery procedure will be breast augmentation surgery. This is no surprise to Dr. Peterson, because breast augmentations are the most popular procedure he performs, and has been listed in the top five plastic surgery procedures for over a decade.
Liposuction This body sculpting procedure is second on this list of top trends for the new year. Advances in liposuction technology have made the procedure easier on patients, and has allowed for faster recoveries with less downtime after surgery. Many patients who have realized their weight loss goals choose to have liposuction to help sculpt and shape hard to tone areas.
Rhinoplasty Rhinoplasty, or the nose job, is predicted to be the third most popular choice for patients choosing to go under the knife. Many patients seeking this surgery do so for aesthetic reasons, such as the correction of a deformity that may have occurred as a result of injury, or to correct an area they perceive to be a cosmetic flaw. Other rhinoplasty patients choose the rhinoplasty procedure to correct a deviated septum to improve their breathing.
Breast reduction surgery Ironically, breast reduction surgery is also in the top five procedures for 2017. Breast reduction surgery has become more popular over the last few years as women opt for implant removal, or simply seek to reduce the size of their breasts due to the pain and discomfort caused by very large breasts. There were 103, 077 breast reduction surgeries performed patients in 2015. While the ASPS hasn’t reported number yet for 2016, we can expect the number of reduction mammoplasties to be up again this year, and continue to trend higher for 2017.
Ear surgery The fifth and final prediction for 2017 is ear surgery. There are two types of ear surgery performed by Dr. Peterson. The first one is ear pinning surgery, also known as otoplasty. Ear pinning is done to set prominent ears back closer to the head, or to reduce the size of large ears. Most ear pinning surgeries are performed on children aged five or younger, but can also be performed on adults. There is another type of ear surgery, specifically for patients that have damaged their ear lobes as a result of large, heavy earrings or accidents. This surgery is known as ear lobe repair and is a simple reconstruction procedure.
