A Package Deal

You’ve heard of the mommy makeover, but what about the daddy do-over? Just like the package of procedures moms are choosing after they are done having children and breastfeeding, many men are also now bundling surgeries and other cosmetic and aesthetic services to get rid of the “dad bod.” Why? For the same reason many women opt for plastic surgery procedure bundles: convenience in getting the body they want.

Dr. Peterson can help both men and women in the Topeka area get the look they want with both facial and body procedures.

Why Men Are Seeking Plastic Surgery

Just like the mommy makeover, men are seeking these procedures to improve their appearance and boost their confidence. Stats from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons show that 1.3 million cosmetic procedures were performed on men in 2018, nearly a 30 percent increase since 2000.

What Is the Daddy Do-Over?

While men do not undergo the same changes to their body caused by pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, they are not immune to the aging process or its effects. As men age, their bodies also change – waistlines get thicker, the chest gets a little bigger and things start to sag. To combat this, more men are consulting with plastic surgeons and talking about procedures.

One procedure men are asking about regularly is the body resculpting procedure liposuction. Liposuction is an ideal treatment designed to remove stubborn fat that refuses to budge no matter how much you hit the gym or how healthy your diet.

Some men are pairing liposuction with body-lift surgeries, especially after significant weight loss.

Another body procedure men are choosing is male breast-reduction surgery to get rid of unwanted breast tissue that develops as a result of gynecomastia.

Other popular cosmetic procedures men include in their do-over package include the rhinoplasty “nose job” procedure. More than 52,000 of these surgeries were performed last year. Another facial surgery popular among men in 2018 was the blepharoplasty eyelid procedure, designed to remove excess skin, tissue and fat from the eyelids.

Many men also opted for hair transplant surgery, up 17 percent from 2017.

In addition to feeling better and looking better, many men are opting to package procedures as they think a makeover will give them an edge in the workplace.

Nonsurgical procedures, such as Botox, were also popular. According to a October 2018 article in Dermatology Times, men’s cosmetic injections have increased by more than 80 percent just since 2010.
